Hackers Develop Cell Phone Tapping Equipment USD1.500

A computer security expert claims to have developed a telephone tapping device at an affordable price. Device is only worth approximately USD1.500 is able to record every phone conversation.

Chris Paget, security experts have also been poor across the world’s hackers showed how he was able to break into the GSM network technology which has been the most widely used in mobile communications. He demonstrated the device in front of dozens of hackers who attend DefCon hackers’ conference at the United States. As reported by Financial Times, Sunday (01/08/2010), According to Paget, the demo shown illustrates that the criminals can do the same thing for a dangerous purpose, and consumers have few options to protect themselves.

“I expect research and development of listening devices, which will help encourage the implementation of new communication standard that is more secure, GSM is the second-generation technology, but when using the 3G and 4G network eavesdroppers will be difficult to bug it,” she said.

He gave an example, phones like the BlackBerry implement encryption for calls that would thwart the attack. Developed software system is only able to break into the device that uses the GSM and not 3G.
